Housing in Yidish-Hoyz

Deadline: June 1, 2008

Students live in a community setting at the Palladium, a dormitory on 14th street between Third and Fourth Avenues. The Palladium is a ten-minute walk to Washington Square classrooms and central campus.

Students have single rooms centered in a suite around a common area. These air-conditioned apartment-style residences include a bath, kitchen, and dining area. This new dormitory features a full athletic center with an Olympic-sized swimming pool. There is also a dining hall, a TV lounge, 5 music practice rooms with pianos, a game room, 4 lounges, a laundry center and a university cafe next door. New this year, Trader Joe's has opened a store on the ground floor of Palladium.

* Students who wish to purchase a meal plan (kosher meals are available), please see Meal Plans section.

Please indicate on your application form if you plan to stay in the yidish-hoyz. Housing must be reserved for the full duration of the program, arrival Sunday, June 29 - check out on Saturday, August 9th. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, so please notify us as soon as you are able.

Housing Payment

  • $1500 for six weeks
  • $2000 for eight weeks (only if taking Refresher Course)

Students will be charged directly by the Bursar for housing.

If you are taking the Reading Skills Workshop and plan to stay in NYU housing, you will need to arrive on Sunday, June 29th. We ask that you let us know by email (yivoyiddish@yivo.cjh.org) as soon as possible so we can arrange the additional day of housing for an additional fee.

Housing for the Refresher Course, which begins June 17th, is charged in addition to your housing for Yidish Hoyz, and may be in a different location (we will make every effort to keep you in the same room but it cannot be guaranteed).

To apply for housing, please visit the Housing Application link.

Please let us know by email if travel plans or other circumstances prevent your from arriving on Sunday.
